In laboratory tests, we filled an American and a European engine using conventional mineral oil with Mobil 1. After 14,000 miles in the Mobil 1 at recommended oil drain intervals, the European vehicle returned to near the level of cleanliness it exhibited in the showroom. The American vehicle showed an even higher level of development.
Mobil 1 keeps your engine cleaner in high temperature conditions. Some of the engine tests we did simulated severe conditions. This engine test measures piston debris in high-speed simulation drives in very hot weather. The oil temperature increased to 150ºC in 100 hours.
Mobil 1 is more effective than other leading synthetic and semi-synthetic oils in resisting high temperature deposits. Our test simulates the formula of piston deposits in high-temperature conditions that reduce engine efficiency. The test oil was heated to 285ºC and directed to an aluminum disk that rotated rapidly (2500rpm) and was heated to 330ºC. This test took 3 hours. At the end of the test, we gave the oil a cleanliness rating out of 100.
